VIDEO: Dusty Baker goes 1-on-1

Nov 5, 2015, 6:21 PM EST

After holding a press conference at the podium alongside GM Mike Rizzo at Nats Park, new Nationals manager Dusty Baker sat down with Mark for an extensive 1-on-1 interview.

They covered a variety of subjects including his love for the city of Washington, his excitement to take over the Nats and what it will be like to coach Bryce Harper. Baker also addressed his age, the team’s high expectations and what the Nationals need to do to get back on track.

Check it out:

He doesn’t want to win 1 WS, he wants to win 2. I like the sound of that. Someone had posted that if ends up winning a WS for us that he’d probably just give up, it doesn’t sound like that to me. I understand that he can say whatever he wants, but he seems quite genuine.

I have spent a few days just brewing over this hire and ignoring baseball news. I come back to a couple great bench hires. And some amazing quotes from Dusty.

I love when Mark asks “How comfortable are you under pressure”? and you hear a little release of air from Dusty, like “Come on man, i live for pressure”. AND DUSTY HAS A 16 YEAR OLD SON?!?! HOLY CRAP.

I certainly can’t wait for the QO tomorrow and the lead up to winter meetings.

“Pressure? I’m the one who applied the pressure.”

BTW, does anyone have a link to the full press conference? I can only find clips.

What a class act Dusty is! Hope he can right this ship.
Welcome and best of luck Dusty Baker.
Mark, nice job with the interview too 😉

Looks like Dusty is going to be a quote machine and I’m cracking up over the media’s barely contained glee. And it’s only Day 1.
