The Nationals gave out their annual minor league awards on Saturday, naming first baseman Jose Marmolejos their minor league player of the year and right-hander Austin Voth their minor league pitcher of the year.

Pitcher Austen Williams also received the Bob Boone Award, given to a player who exemplifies professionalism and work ethic, among other things.

Marmolejos, 22, hit .310 with 11 homers, 39 doubles and 87 RBI in 124 games for Single-A Potomac. Voth, 23, held a 2.92 ERA with 148 strikeouts in 157 1/3 innings for Double-A Harrisburg.

)k, by my count, two are currently on the roster, one about to leave and one who should have left. Several recent winners are certainly candidates for the “big” team, but just that. This list says there is not much reason for excitement for the recipients of this award.

Or, you could note that 14 of these guys have become big leaguers so far and Giolito and Voth are likely to make it 16, regardless of whether Marmolejos or Skole get there.

And Burns is a starter for the A’s and is hitting .297 and is 3rd in the AL in steals.Of course we ultimately ended up with Matt den Dekker for him, [via Jerry Blevins].
