VIDEO: Max Scherzer joins CSN after Caps game

May 7, 2015, 8:59 AM EDT

A bunch of Nationals players took advantage of a day game with an off-day on Thursday to go to Wednesday night’s Capitals-Rangers Game 4 playoff matchup. Bryce Harper, Aaron Barrett, Stephen Strasburg, Danny Espinosa, Gio Gonzalez, Jose Lobaton and Max Scherzer were among those in attendance.

Scherzer was nice enough to join CSN’s SportsTalk Live after the game to talk about the experience. He spoke with Jill Sorenson about the atmosphere at Verizon Center and what position he would play if he were a hockey player.

Check it out:

Here’s a group picture from the Caps’ locker room afterwards:

i could see Maximus as a center—he’s both a leader and a great athlete.

I’m cheering for the Caps to meet my Blackhawks in the finals!!!

Fister’s in that picture too, right? And is that Tony Two Bags? Very cool.

From what I was able to gather on Twitter, most of the team was there. Strasburg, Gio, Roark, Fister and Scherzer were all there (did not see JZimm). Barrett, Thornton, Treinen and Storen were there from the ‘pen. Zim, Uggla, Espi, Rendon, Harper, Lobaton and Moore were also there. They all had a suite together (and from one photo I saw, a rather impressive pyramid of beer cans going).

You’d thing being from Wisconsin JZnn would be at a big hockey game.

Hopefully TTB protected that oblique as he drank and cheered.

        He’s in DC?

Yes, MW said the other night that Rendon would be in DC for treatment and rest until he is ready to resume baseball activities. How long that would be, he couldn’t say — maybe a week or two.

Cool to see a DC sports vibe. Funny what winning will do for a team and its fanbase. Everyone wants a piece of the Wiz/Caps/Nats action.

I also like that Scherzer didn’t say he “still liked the Red Wings/Piston/Lions”, that he has bought into DC. (Although in my book he will be forgiven if he doesn’t warm up to the local NFL team.)

Only one photo, but Rendon looks bigger to me. Filled out a little.
